Hyundai accelerates autonomous driving with VAST Data
Hyundai and Kia use the VAST AI OS to unify ADAS and LLM data, accelerating autonomous driving and robotics AI.
Automotive

Overview
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia (HKMC) are global automotive leaders pioneering physical AI for mobility. Through 42dot, HKMC’s autonomous mobility division and software center, the group develops advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), large language models, and robotics programs.
Solution
HKMC consolidated ADAS and LLM development into an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD powered by NVIDIA Hopper built on the VAST AI OS. VAST provides a unified namespace with S3 and NFS support, multi-site replication, and zero-copy pipelines for simulation and training.
Results
In production, HKMC achieved 2:1 data reduction on real sensor and video data, improved footprint and power efficiency to scale within data center limits, and enabled zero-copy simulation and training pipelines across sites, significantly accelerating model development and deployment.
