What is Shared Everything?

What is Shared Everything?

Shared Everything launches today–not as another polished vendor blog or corporate storytelling engine, but as something rare (if not singular) in enterprise technology: a fully realized, independent-minded publication set inside a forward-looking tech company.

VAST Data, already known for not fitting neatly into any existing category, is behind this move, which makes sense.

Rather than shaping every piece of insight to fit a prescribed narrative, VAST has chosen a bolder route–trusting that the truth about the future of infrastructure is best explored openly, conversationally, and without the usual filters.

We'll dive deep into emerging trends, powerful ideas, and foundational shifts defining the next generation of infrastructure, from AI-native architectures to datacenter-scale inference, new approaches to power management, storage evolution, and beyond.

This exploration is driven primarily by in-depth, narrative-driven interviews–not just internally from VAST but from a broader set of architects, engineers, researchers, and industry thinkers who are actively shaping tomorrow’s technology.

You'll encounter these voices in longform essays, candid video roundtables, insightful podcasts, and lively conversations that aren't just about what's happening, but why it matters.

This model–editorially independent yet housed within a technology company–is intentionally unusual. And it’s brave.

VAST has chosen to give space to ideas rather than carefully controlled messaging, because that’s precisely what’s needed to truly understand and engage with the future.

It signals a recognition that the future of infrastructure can’t simply be narrated into existence; it must be actively discovered through exploration, debate, and sometimes messy experimentation.

My own experience, covering high-end technology from HPC and advanced storage architectures to AI infrastructure for over twenty years, tells me the big stories never fit neatly into product announcements or marketing materials. Instead, they surface through genuine curiosity, real debates, and unexpected insights directly from those building the systems.

That's exactly the approach we're taking here.

Shared Everything is an adventure—not only for us inside VAST but for anyone genuinely curious about what's shaping the infrastructure landscape ahead.

It's a commitment to honesty, openness, and editorial independence within a corporate setting, and a recognition that this might be exactly what the technology world needs now.

And by the way, Shared Everything isn't just a catchy title–it's a subtle nod to the core scalable, pooled system infrastructure that makes VAST unique that also happens to perfectly describe what we're creating here—a shared space for rigorous, deeply technical, and refreshingly candid conversations about AI infrastructure.

The name captures both the spirit of open exploration and the underlying technological philosophy: everything that matters is better when shared.

If you’re the kind of person fascinated by what's coming next, intrigued by the complexities of datacenter-scale technologies, and interested in hearing directly from the minds behind these major shifts, this publication is for you.
